September 21, 2001 Meeting Minutes
Paper Valley Hotel, Appleton, WI.

The meeting was called to order by President Chris Wilmot at 8:30. After a brief moment of silence (due to the events of 9/11/01) the membership recited the pledge of allegiance. Then we did introductions of everyone present.

Chris Wilmot thanked the WAPP membership and his agency for sending him to the NIGP forum.

Treasurer’s report- Chris Wilmot

As of 9/19/01 the checkbook balance is $11,032.38 and the CD balance is $5,676.28 for total net assets of $16,708.66. The CD matures on 12/26/01 and we will need to decide by then what to do with it.

Pat Jenkins has asked the membership to accept her resignation. Even though she is doing well and recovering she is unable to keep up with a full schedule. She thanked WAPP for holding her position open for her. Chris will discuss what to do about this with the Past President’s Counsel at their meeting this afternoon.

Education Committee- Mary Lynn Seidel gave the report for Frank Draxler

There are two seminars coming up in October. We have 20 people signed up for this so there is still room for more WAPP members to attend. Please sign up soon if you are interested, information is on the website.

Vendor Expo- Diane Parish

There will be a committee meeting at 4:00 today. The 2001 Vendor Expo has netted a profit of $6,000. This is a substantial improvement over the 2000 Vendor Expo which only netted around $1,000 in profit. We need to get ideas for a theme for next year’s expo. If you have any ideas please send them to Diane. The vendor expo for 2002 will be in September and it will be in the Wisconsin Dells. Specific dates and place will be shared with the membership as soon as it becomes available. Diane Parish has now taken over as chairperson this committee. Thank you Diane.

Membership- Monica Gannon

As of today we have a total of 185 members. Of this 185 members, 37 are accredited, 22 are retired, and 25 are 1st time members this year. Of the total membership, 84% have their membership dues paid for by their employers. Pins and certificates are available, please contact Monica for them. The remaining membership directories are on the back table. Please take one if interested since these are the last directories available. The membership committee will meet at 4:00 today.

Recycling committee- Chris Wilmot

The committee met via email. They are going to propose that their name be changed to "Environmentally Preferable Purchasing".

Public Relations- Mary Lynn Seidel

Sixty percent of the membership is participating in the VIP program. This is the program where you earn points by attending meetings, submitting articles for the newsletter, etc. The Public relations committee will meet at 4:30 today.

Newsletter-Sharon Weeks

The deadline for the next newsletter is November 1st.

Webmaster- Chris Wilmot

Chris and Jim would like to purchase Adobe Acrobat so that we can start putting the newsletter on the webpage. This may cut down on some of the mailings of the newsletter.

Old Business:

Mike Cornell of DOA wants to work with WAPP on bidding out items in a cooperative way. The Past Presidents committee will meet at 4:00 to discuss this with Mike.

New Business:

NIGP has requested donations to be given to the Red Cross from NIGP. The New York and New Jersey port authority purchasing departments were located in the World Trade Center complex. Mary Lynn Seidel made a motion that we send a $500 donation and Lee Johnson seconded. The motion carried.

Lee Johnson made a motion and Sharon Weeks seconded it to change the name of the Recycling committee to the Environmentally Preferable Purchasing committee.
