Dr. David Mays, M.D. Ph.D. is the Associate Director for Clinical Services in the Forensic Program at The Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison WI, a 180 bed facility comprised of maximum, medium, and minimum security inpatient units.
Before his employment at Mendota, Dr. Mays worked for the Dean Clinic in Madison as part of an HMO practice; in private practice with City Psychiatric Group, and as the medical director of Mobile Community Treatment - an ACT program at the Mental Health Center of Dane county.
Dr. Mays has clinical faculty appointments in the psychiatry departments of both the University of Wisconsin, Madison and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
He is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Alliance for the Mentally Ill in Dane County, The Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance of the Mentally Ill, and the Exceptional Performance Award from the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services.
Dr. Mays lectures extensively on the topics of Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment, Aggression and Suicide Risk Management, and AODA Dual Diagnosis Issues.
